Five embedded engineers supporting platforms used by millions

Engineering story

Atolls operates major commerce and deals platforms used by millions of shoppers. HotUKDeals alone attracts approximately 30 million visitors per month, making reliability, responsiveness and safe iteration essential at this level of traffic. Our partnership began with Social Shopping Group (Pepper), now part of Atolls, and has grown into five embedded Onectus engineers working inside established product teams. We contribute across responsive Vue.js interfaces, PHP application services, MySQL-backed workflows, deal submissions, comment systems, personalized discovery, moderation and controlled experiments. Engineering in this environment means handling legacy and modern systems together, respecting production APIs, protecting performance during change and maintaining disciplined testing, CI/CD, release processes and operational continuity. We also recruit, technically evaluate and onboard specialist engineers for the wider engineering organization.

Embedded finance, engineered.

A three-person engineering team contributing frontend and backend expertise to an API-first fintech platform.

Frontend and backend engineering augmentation

Three engineers on a specialized fintech engagement

Engineering story

Three embedded engineers supported the cross-stack demands of a financial infrastructure product. The work spans React interface components and application state, PHP-backed services and the REST contracts that connect them, in a domain where authentication, controlled access, data consistency and exceptional error handling are essential. Integrating financial functionality into business software means that backend operations, transactional data models and the visible client experience have to evolve together. Kernolab reached a $1 million pre-seed financing milestone in 2021 as it developed its embedded-finance offering.

Clusco

A marketplace for heavy machinery.

We built and launched a construction-equipment marketplace with React, Django and native iOS and Android apps.

Venture product engineering, marketplace development and early-stage operations

Launched web, iOS and Android marketplace experiences

Engineering story

Clusco was designed around a physical, trust-sensitive marketplace: suppliers catalogued construction equipment, customers discovered nearby machines and availability, and the platform connected enquiry and rental journeys across web and mobile. We engineered a React web experience, Python/Django services and native applications for iOS and Android, with a shared business data model, equipment taxonomy, search and listing workflows. The venture secured early backing from partners and smaller investors, and that engineering journey also connects to the Sejico / Intelektas research-and-innovation initiative, with a project value of €1.3 million. Real equipment, real field feedback and complex two-sided acquisition shaped the engineering decisions.
